POSITION OVERVIEW

In close partnership with senior leadership, the Head of Human Resources will be a thought-partner, highly valued member of the leadership team, and will play an integral role in helping the company exceed its growth goals. He/she will be asked to solve problems they’ve never solved before building processes from the ground up and contributing strategically from day one.

The Head of HR – a newly created position – will design organizational strategy and structure, and drive programs that elevate employee recruitment, team development, culture, and company success in this rapidly growing startup.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Partner with Co-Founders to support growth initiatives, manage through change, and enhance overall company performance providing hands-on HR leadership that supports company culture and the employee experience
  • Create the company’s HR Playbook through the design and implementation of long-range HR strategies and tactics that are in alignment with the culture, mission, vision and goals
  • Foster commitment to diversity, team building and development at all levels
  • Lead talent acquisition, workforce planning, and talent management efforts to ensure that the company is attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent
  • Develop and implement strategic staffing plan to ensure an ongoing pipeline of highly qualified talent for key positions
  • Direct the development, revision and implementation of performance management tools and training. Monitor the performance management system; guide managers in people development
  • Develop and implement staff training including; leadership training, new hire training and orientation, and on-going staff training and development
  • Develop strategies to ensure that HR initiatives and programs—such as recruitment, onboarding, team-building and recognition—reinforce the company’s culture and values
  • Evaluate employee engagement to preserve and enhance culture during growth while positioning the company as one of the best places to work in the hospitality, development, and outdoor industries
  • Support the high-performance culture of open and proactive communications so that every team member has the necessary information needed to perform. Handle employee relations issues; provide coaching to employees and managers
  • Position the company to grow by multiples year-on-year with culture fully intact and constantly improving
  • Establish and maintain market-based and industry-based best practice processes for setting total rewards philosophy (compensation, benefits, incentives and rewards)
  • Work closely with top management to assess and reduce legal risk and liability. Ensure compliance with all aspects of employment law
  • Plan, develop, and further establish policies and practices in accordance with objectives and values of the organization

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8-10 years of progressive leadership experience in HR positions in culture-centric, geographically dispersed, high growth companies
  • Working generalist knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines including: recruiting, compensation, benefits, organizational development, employee relations, performance management, safety programs, and employment laws
  • Passion and proven ability in building a positive, supportive, and inspiring culture for employees
  • Must be a technologically savvy and data-driven individual with computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Drive
  • Self-starter able to multi-task, creatively solve problems, set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate
  • Comfortable in a start-up environment willing to step out of regular duties to pitch-in and help others
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, where many things are still new, and processes are developed under time constraints and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to remain positive and continue solving problems under pressure
